The first real rain....

We've had some drizzle and we've had some grey.

This weekend however....

brought REAL rain...

... loud and wild ....

...windy and wet...

... soaking the lawn...

... and washing the plants...

... leaving only jewels and gems ...

... reflecting in the sun.

I walked around this morning marvelling
at mother nature ....

... and how her beauty staggers me.

This jar
(that my sister gave me for my birthday)
sits near the window on my desk.
The prisms on the lid catch the morning sunlight...

... resulting in mini rainbows that
move about me while I write.

It's going to be a very good day.

Industriart and an Interview with the owner ...

Brace yourself peoples... major eye candy coming up!

Hi Angy,

I love that you love our shop, your enthusiasm and encouragement. Thank you.

To me Industriart is a bit of a surprise, tucked away at the back of a factory development. It's full of things that I love, whether they be new or old, serious or silly.

I have tried to have 'something for everyone', and even if you don't want anything I think it's quite an interesting place to browse and maybe step back in time.

My husband and I are both hoarders and we have collected all sorts of things for many years. It was actually my husband who decided that we should perhaps part with some of our treasures.

I have gone with that idea and taken it to a new level- a great excuse to source new treasures..... It's fun, and I can't think of anything nicer than surrounding yourself with 'lovely stuff', and playing- which is precisely what I do.

I really love almost everything in the shop and I really can't pick any one thing. I love a mixture of old and new, rusty and pretty, and I'm learning that I am not the only one who feels this way.

I enjoy chatting to people when they come in to the shop, and I have learned a lot from them about some of the older pieces......"I remember my grandmother had one of those and we used to.......".

It's hard to know whether some of the pieces I love are because of their fabulous style or function, or because of the warm, fuzzy feeling they give because of lovely memories.

There are quite a lot of things I can't yet bear to part with and I am always asking questions of potential buyers because I need to know that my treasures are going to a good home.

(I'm sort of joking, but those who know me well think that my next step will be to have adoption certificates drawn up for everything that leaves the shop).

How can I pick a favourite find? Would it be the pineapple drink decanter that plays The Anniversary Song when you pour, or would it be the fabulous '50's lounge suite that I've had reupholstered?

Maybe the little dish commemorating the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge or the crystal glasses? Or perhaps........

Hope I haven't gone on too much. Thanks again.

No... Thank YOU Veronica!
I had such fun going through and
taking photos of all your precious wares.
I know that many of us "treasure hunting folk"
feel the same way you do and for those who live
too far away to drop by in person ... well..
this post will certainly delight.

PS - My favourites ...

You will find Industriart in
Unit D, 29 Clayton Street Midland WA.
It's a MUST.

"Sometimes someone controls everything about you
And when they tell you they can't live without you
They ain't lyin', they'll take pieces of you
And they'll stand above you and walk away
That's right and take a part of you with them"

Missing Pieces, Blunderbuss

DISAPPOINTED that Perth misses out on tour dates from time to time.
GLAD that he's made a solo album.
IMPRESSED with the music AND the lyrics.

(Thanks Hubster for buying it for Moi)

How's the week been peoples?
We have a new chicken run... I'm ever so happy
in the knowledge that my girls will be dry and cosy this Winter
(well if you can call Perth's
"30 degree & sun shining brightly days"
Winter.... sigh....)

Also we are hosting a special dinner party this weekend and I'm
thinking about painting a hallway... just thinking about it though...

I'll leave with you a bit of Jack at his best ....
(still with Meg at this point)
