What do you do to keep calm?
Do you think it's ok to lose your marbles?
Are we really a sea of tranquility beneath it ALL?
What does it mean to stay sane?
Weren't all the greats at least a little bit crazy?
Who sets the benchmark?
How calm is too calm?
Is it good for you...
(even if just once in a blue moon)
...to just go batpoop mad?
What brings you back down ... to the stillness, to the quiet?
Tips to achieve a balance between the go and the stop?
Balance... there's that word again.
I think that's what the future holds for me right now
The challenge of learning to wise-up and let go
Let go of the stuff that does NOT matter
(and let's face it ... only 5% REALLY matters... agreed?)
..and allow what really needs to happen... to happen
I'm thinking (too much)...
... and I'm ready to stop now
To REALLY stop.
The chatter, the crazy, the whoosh, the whirr... you know what I mean yes?
I'm after that stuff they call "inner peace" ...
and if you've just gagged or baulked or rolled your eyes I can understand
It's such a cliche nowadays that I think we've lost sight
of what it means to have a stillness that you can rely on...
... an inner sanctum that nothing can penetrate...
So much stuff whizzing about the place... the news (eek)
the net, the papers, the shops, the sounds, the workplace, the traffic...
.... Shhhhh...
Just Shhhh for one second please.
I need some calm
... and I need it now

I really know what you mean Angy...I'm even trying to type quietly but unfortunately there's no calm or peace here this morning.
The builder arrived in the dark (pre-dawn) and set up lamps and lights and has been drilling and hammering ever since all whilst the radio is blasting out!
He's putting decking at the rear of the house which will be great so I'll have to suffer the chaos for now.
I hope you find the peace and calm you're looking for. It's certainly hard to find in these modern times...to switch off the madness for a wee while.

I find a daily connection to nature keeps me sane,
a bit of planting, weeding, nature watching, some wind in the face, leaf kicking, puddle splashing... A lot of the time I'm house bound so I watch the birds feeding in my garden and the rest takes place in my imagination...

Meditation, yoga, t'ai chi...are very good techniques to calm the mind and body. Mindfulness, being in the moment--though it sounds trite, you'd be amazed how it changes perspective.
"Go placidly amid the noise and haste..."
And speaking of the "Desiderata"...
I have it on my fridge. Every day I close my eyes and poke my finger on the sheet of paper, read the sentence, then try to incorporate it into my day.

Inner peace is such a beautiful thing and not always easy to hold onto. I hope you find it and it just stays and stays!
A connection with Mother Nature really helps me. Just the sounds of the birds and the wind in the trees. It's pure serenity :)
sometimes, journaling, writing it down, letting it out - works for me.
Ah, peace! Now that I am older, I have more of it. Younger, there was so much to do, so many tasks by the time I had time for a little peace, I fell asleep. It's one advantage to older, more time, fewer tasks . . . and more understanding of what is important. By necessity you have to give up some things, so the gift of time is a real blessing. I send a morning note out to friends and family, so I have to sit and look around, out my window, notice the light, notice the sky, birds, squirrels, the cats, it makes me slow down and take in the day. And I'm glad of the peace that small task brings me!
