Weather and work....

Phew!

It's been a scorcher here in Perth peoples...

Basically it's a matter of stay hydrated and keep that
Air Con running....

We even had a surprise visitor looking for a drink of water....

(this is an Australian Bobtail Lizard... just in case your wondering)

I heard him shuffling around in the dry leaves outside and when I
offered him a saucer of water he practically flopped into into it.
Poor little guy.

Ok enough about the torture weather....

I managed (finally) to clear out my roll top desk
and bestow it upon my son for all of his vigorous and
enthusiastic homework ventures....

We also managed to score a fabulous cupboard ...
(from a verge collection... go upcylce-recycle!)
...which we painted with blackboard paint so that
Young Prince can keep track of his weekly timetable.

This fabric artwork is designed by Hella Jongerius
for IKEA ... sigh... I have a weak spot for a Fox.

Voila... a workspace for a teenager

Even though I loved my little desk it was certainly
time to say good bye to a small work space and make way
for something a little bigger....

Perhaps a dining table?
Yes that's right... we decided that since I commandeer the dining table
all the time  - making, sewing, creating, messing...playing... collecting thrifted wares...
(I'm sure you get the idea)
Well why not just make the "dining nook"
(it's really a corner off our lounge room)
my study area...
(I say we because Hubby did mention the fact that
we hardly ever entertain indoors and if indeed we need to we can always use the
kitchen table - a comment  I took as complete encouragement I will add)

Now I have a mahoosive table all for Moi...
A table that I can spread out on and a corner
that holds ALL my stuff...

But wait there's more!

And for this I need to digress just a tad - Apologies.

Quick digression:
We recently replaced our back fence - a nasty mixture of
old fencing posts, rusted chicken wire, a giant wisteria, two pool fence sections,
and this....

Hidden beneath a mountain of creeping vines...
Our original front gate!
(It would seem that over the years previous owners have used whatever they could
get their hands on to plug up holes - probably dug by naughty dogs)

(she uses a similar old gate in her shop to hang all her stunning vintage hats on)

I decided to bring this gorgeous treasure in, hang it on the wall and
embellish it with... um... let me see...

... maybe a string of fairy lights, a few trinkets...

... a little splash of nature...

... some miniature bunting...

... and there you have it - the ultimate workspace
mood board/notice board/inspiration board...

I have to add that I'm literally tickled pink with it!
Thank you Hubby for letting me drag "garden rubbish"
into our home and allow it to live again with a new use and purpose.

I have created a cosy little dream space and I am ecstatic!
I know these photos are a little unclear so I'll post more using my spekkie camera!
Forgive me it's just that I'm so darn chuffed!

What about you? Are you happy with your workspace?
Does it call to you? Does it make you smile?
Is it practical? Can you afford to rethink/redesign/reallocate a
space in your home so that you too can enjoy a blessed little space such a mine?
I sure hope so!
