Weekend in Colour...

Well it came as quickly as it passed by...
A weekend in colour ... lots of colour ...

Mexican in Freo...

... at Mojos ...

... a walk in skins
(they look funny but they are great in
cold weather!

... clearing off the mandarin tree ...

... they taste like sherbet bombs!....

... enjoying the sunshine ...

... as we jabber and chat ...

... and prepare for family ...

... who'll be joining us for tea ...

... we picked lemons too  - and froze the juice in
ice cube trays - refreshing in mineral water ....

....  spread the new tablecloth ...

.... float some flowers in a bird bath ....

... collect bunches of flowers ...

... and food from the garden...

... hang a few lanterns ...

... and of course eat some cake!

All in all a completely abundant and blessing filled
two days. Making me feel like I'm kinda the
luckiest gal in the galaxy.

On a different note  - here's a quick DIY
project I just had to share.

HESSIAN COVERED POT PLANTER

Why?
Well we needed great big pots for a large
Ficus and very special Magnolia - they were
becoming rootbound in their existing pots.

What?
We found large plastic pots (cheap) & they were
easy to move as well as the perfect size - BUT - they
were black ... uh - uh!
So... hessian .. yes .. much nicer and cheap
and hardy and easy to work with.

How ?
Well Hubby held the pot on it's side and I wrapped
the hessian around leaving enough to tuck into the top
and bottom. I used string and a large embroidery needle.
It literally took five minutes.
Cool huh?

So if you have a planter you're not that
keen on ... hessian .. a great way to jazz up
a pot plant and/or turn something plastic into fantastic.

Hope your week has begun with a bang?
Plans? Outings? DIY projects? Work?
Do tell .....

Hello:
This sounds to have been a really fun packed, and certainly colourful, weekend in which you so obviously enjoyed yourself. Wonderful!

And your tip about hessian to conceal unattractive containers is an excellent one.

Those mandarins! Yum!
What I miss most about living in the hills are my citrus trees and camelias. We probably had about 30 huge old camelias, all with little hand-painted metal labels (courtesy their original owner) I would float huge bowls full of them throughout the house. Beautiful. Nothing beats the taste of home-grown citrus.

What a fantastic collection of floral photos. The colours are amazing. It's the first time I've had citrus trees and I'm loving it...I just can't get enough :D
Are those melting moments I see hiding? It looks like you had a wonderful time.
You're such a clever bunny using hessian to cover the pots. I'm going to store that idea away for future reference. ;D
Thanks for sharing. Have a great week ~ enjoy! x

what a great Idea!!! I wish I had thought of that, I have a plant in an old paint bucket that I try to hide in behind the others so ugly, but this may change that,
lovely photos too
