Mixed Lollies on Monday...

A weekend full of goodness.
My Prince returned from school camp.
(Decided not to post a photo of crying mother - just picture swollen eyes but happy heart)

Before picking up young man from the airport, Hubby and I tried a new burger hub
in Subiaco. Sat outside to enjoy the sunshine and the atmosphere.

If I'd been allowed to, I would have spread out on the table and gone to sleep.

I was starving so I hoped the serves would be generous and happy to report that the
"garden goodness" vegetarian burger (with a serve of fries & sweet chili mayo)
did not disappoint. At all.

Yes it gives you stinky breath and, for some, even taints the smell of their sweat
(or am I the only one?) but I do love red onion.
So happy face when the slices in my burger were on the chunky side.

Sunday was Fathers day here in Oz.

So the day was launched with home made cards, Anzac biscuits and every one's chosen brew - in bed.
Even Pooch was allowed up to give Dad a bit of love.

Then we joined extended family for breakfast in Fremantle.
So much fun to hang with generations and watch all the love unfold.
Grand Dads, Old Dads, Young Dads, New Dads. The restaurant was filled with all sorts.

The rest of the day was a bit of a blur but at least Hubby managed to squeeze in a bit of couch and sport time. We also conquered the rather daunting challenge of rearranging our crazy room.
(So named due to the state we inherited it in when we bought our little cottage in the hills)
Haven't got any photos yet but will do soon.

How was your weekend peoples?

PS

These are my goals for the week.
(Maybe if I share them I'll be motivated to accomplish them?)

Create and make.
Try a new recipe.
Meditate  - every day for at least 15 minutes.
(this has been a goal for the last 2 years... Mmmm)
Take a box of pre-loved goods to the Salvos
Scan some more Vintage illustrations.
Clean and sort my wardrobe.
(Ok now we are getting ambitious)
And last but not least...
Buy seedlings for the up and coming Herb/Vegie Patch.

Phew. Sigh. Shuffle. Cough...
Tap, Tap, Tap....
Look around room...

Alright alright.
I'm off.

As Edward Young stated so wisely

Procrastination is the thief of time.

Mary and Max...

I just loved the movie Mary and Max.
It's had me pondering and reflecting and smiling.
It's had me looking at the world up side down and inside out.
It's had me thinking twice & speaking only once.
Isn't that cool?

Here are a few quotes from it...

"He smelled like licorice and old books, she thought to herself, as tears rolled from her eyes,
the color of muddy puddles"

"Butts (cigarette) are bad because they wash out to sea,
and fish smoke them and become nicotine-dependent"

"When I was young, I invented an invisible friend called Mr Ravioli. My psychiatrist says I don't need him anymore, so he just sits in the corner and reads"

"Dr. Bernard Hazelhof said if I was on a desert island, then I would have to get used to my own company - just me and the coconuts. He said I would have to accept myself, my warts and all, and that we don't get to choose our warts. They are part of us and we have to live with them. We can, however, choose our friends, and I am glad I have chosen you"

So if you enjoy your films a little on the quirky side. with substance, unique perspectives, love and tolerance...
WATCH THIS FILM.

That's all.

PS - The photos are not from the film - I wish I was as cute as Mary!

Self Portrait...

Been playing around with a collection of "self portrait" shots
(I'm a very cheap model and I never miss a shoot)

Mostly experimenting with Hipstamatic
(I have every film package & the lens/film combos are endless!)

Can't decide on an absolute favourite but I'm very fond of the Chunky & Helga Viking Lenses as well as the Cafenol, Inas 69 & Kodot films.

The coolest thing is that each photo records the exact details of every combo so if you love a particular effect you can always refer back to the settings...

There's also a "random" function which allows you to shake the camera (I-phone) and Hipstamatic selects a film package combo for you. You can switch this function off if you like - something which proves handy if you want to take all your shots with one combo and you accidently "shake the camera"

I love the varying casts that you get depending on whether you are using natural, tungsten or green light.
It's like a myriad of moods possible within one tiny little 5 megapixel camera!

Too cool!

The last photo was taken using the regular I-Phone camera and then processed with an application called Plastic Bullet - also a fun way to alter an image.

So if you have an I-Phone (and you haven't checked out Hipstamatic) then go on and have a quick look.
It's not expensive and it's a lot of fun!

Beauty is everywhere...

With eyes that seek

And trees that cry

and books that show us

the strangest things,

like soaps that dance!

I'm left to wonder what a flower feels

or a candle says

to me...

When the romantic refinements of a young mind are obliged to give way, how frequently are they succeeded by such opinions as are but too common and too dangerous!
