Catch up...

So what's been happening in your world lately? Me? I've had a few small adventures....

A visit to one of my favourite nurseries to purchase a birthday present for a dear friend. We chose a Tahitian Lime tree which has been propagated to a semi-dwarf variety so that it can be planted in the garden or remain in a pot. We have one (in a pot) and they are so juicy - perfect for cooking with and in drinks too. This nursery is amazing and is home to one of my favourite trees in all of Perth ....

... a giant Ghost Gum. I'd need a specialist lens to fit this big boy in. He's just so grand and majestic.
To stand underneath him is to stand in the shoes of History. This image does him no justice whatsoever.
Secret - I kiss and hug him whenever I go there (usually when no one is looking)

At home I've planted a new succulent garden - images to follow when I've mulched properly.
This beauty below is one of the feature plants ...

... then finally our Herb Patch has been tended to. Basil, Rocket, Parsley, Coriander, Stevia, Lemongrass, Chillies (six varieties ... for Hubby the crazy Chili fiend) and LOADS of tomatoes.
Yum! Yay! Whoop Whoop!

Then a jaunt to the city to shop for much needed Winter threads.
This time not for me, but for my growing lad and his Dad.
I was given over to such a sense of joy when I witnessed all these children racing around in the City Square fountains. Not a care in the world as to who was watching.....

Note all the adults watching and supervising but not one actually in the thick of it laughing, giggling and squealing.... Interesting. Imagine how different this world would be if grown-ups lost a bunch of their inhibitions and behaved like kids more often...

... speaking of big kids... Young Prince wolfing down
an ice-cream from David Jones food hall... Note that all the Easter
Chocolate is out and I'm still on my "cleanse" - no chocolate and no tea
for me this Easter - crazy huh?

Throw in ...

... a little...

... bit of styling...

... and a birthday ....

.... and there you have it. A quick catch up in to the world that is Tied Up With String.
Of course my course is still coming along in leaps and bounds and I'm LOVING it.
This week we look at wire work, button holes and corsages.

I hope your week is looking up? Have you been busy? What about your plans
for Easter? Are you going away? Do tell...

PS - The last image is of my birthday wrapping paper
from Hubby... he found a lipstick of mine and covered the
whole package in kisses... ♥♥♥

Happy Bees...

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.
(Robert Frost)

Yes people .. it's official.
Spring has arrived in Perth.
She's unpacked her bags.
She'll be staying a while methinks

This is good news for Maris...

... Lillith....

.... and (stunning) Roz...

... they love all the bugs, the worms and the flies that
inevitably accompany Spring to town.

Eddie loves it too... he doses in the sunshine and
starts whenever a bee buzzes by...

... the garden needs some TLC ...

...but we'll get there I'm sure...

Meantime I'm just soaking up all the
life ... the energy...

... the abundance.

I treated myself to a bunch of Ranunculus
(such a harsh name for such a delicate flower?)

They're from the lovely Sandy
at PODZ

I spent the morning photographing
(& chatting) her stunning store.
I'll be posting about that soon.
In the meantime I have these to
brighten up the house and
affirm the seasons change.

What is in store for your weekend peoples?
Mine:

Football
(having the worlds most supportive Hubby
requires one to make some
sacrifices from time to time)

Gardening - nothing too major - just
pottering, weeding and sowing seeds.

Reading - I have two novels on the go
and I plan on finding me a tree, a tea-pot
and a pillow at some stage.

Editing ... I made a short film about our beach house
adventure and I'm putting it together to share.

Well as you can see not too much ahead but when
you factor in eating, sleeping, baking and
hanging out with family the weekend seems
too short. Bring on school holidays I say.

Take care peoples.
Enjoy the sunshine fellow Oz folk.
Warmth and lingering sunshine to all
well North of the Equator :-)

Thrifted loveliness...

but sweet and special nonetheless...

This graduated, 3 spouted glass measuring jug ...

definitely
my favourite ....

... along with these two little fellas - I love how
the have a sort of "higher than thou" expression ....

... a couple of gorgeous tablecloths - perfect for picnics....

... battered old cook ware .... the best kind ....

... a small depression glass bowl .... kind of art deco in feel
and useful for all my crafty bits ....

As you can see in these images, I had some lovely
light pouring in through the lounge room window... the
bonus of having a few AMAZINGLY beautiful sunny days
bunched together in the midst of Winter.

We have spent them working in the yard - unfortunately removing a few
Wattle trees from our front garden. This has left a rather barren
and exposing hole which I simply must do something about.
We have always been blessed with a screen that
impedes passers by of looking straight into our kitchen window.
Now I need to find a fast growing native shrub that will
do the job and do it quickly!

So I'm off to Zanthorrea to find me some indigenous beauty.

I have a million things to organise before
we go away and I'm usually pretty good at sticking
to my lists - I do feel however that a trip to the
nursery will prove a distraction from all the tasks at hand.
You see it's another GLORIOUS day and I'm afraid
all I can hear is the outdoors calling to me and offering me
a leave pass from all the housework.

I do hope that wherever you all are today you too
get to do something special that requires more
love than self discipline.

Have a superb one peoples... xx

Hedonistic habits...

Do you have them?

This weekend allowed me to dabble in a few of mine...

Discover a new (and uber-cool) carpark cafe, order tea and coffee
AND find the product is as satisfying as the location...
(artwork at the cafe by this cool dude)

Visit one of my favourite nurseries
wander around aimlessly taking in every bloom,
enjoying the buzz of eager gardeners plotting
and planning their next project...
(come home with a bloom or two of my own)

Reading in the garden ... with tea... and chocolate....
and Pooch.... Doze off to the sound of birds calling
and neighbourhood kids giggling.

Collecting flowers (from my own garden) and place
them in pretty containers all around the house....

All the time reminded of those brilliant words by Joseph Campbell

"Follow your Bliss"

PS - Reading the Memory Keepers Daughter
by Kim Edwards
at the moment... It's like reading a dramatic dream.
Not getting anything else done - so I'd better hurry
and finish it!
